Denim

streethijab.com

I love this. I've been looking for a denim shirt for ages but to no avail.
I love it that still covers her feet and it doesn't look out of place.

AND THIS

I want that blazer! Ohh I forgot, I live near the equator.

Salam allo.

Ain't this outfit preety? This is Hana, and if I'm not mistaken, she's a muslim Japanese; and she has her own fashion line called Maysaa or something. I like her style, although some are a wee bit extravagant for me (if you know me, you'd know how 'extravagant' scale of mine exceeds. HINT: not much.) I especially like this simple one of hers, it's a wee bit like me, a LITTLE tomboyish and perhaps, the only hints of (muslimah) femininity is perhaps the headscarf and some other things, like some floral prints and stuff. But of course, I can't see myself wearing a pashmina. I've wore it a few times, but was left under the impression of being totally out of whack, and downright weird. It's pretty when I see others wear it, but it just doesn't seem to fit me.

Of course that does not help considering the minuscule portion of self-esteem I have in myself.

Or is it because I have self-esteem as vast as the (insert a witty simile here) that I feel uncomfortable in wearing things out of my norm?

But nevertheless, I like browsing around muslimah style blogs and watch in awe on how creative and risky they are in styling themselves and all, and show the world that they too could glam up, but still hold on to their roots.

Well except me lah, ehak. Oh and a fact: I still wear the (only) jeans I have since I was 12 or 13. Minus the belt and the twice-fold. And I have two exact pairs of it since I INHERITED one from my LITTLE brother who outgrew it eons ago.

Three in two.

Salam allo. It has been NO-SCHOOL for two days and I still got one day left! mwahaha. I was looking forward for the yesterday's holiday (wesak day) on Friday because my overworked (overstatement.) brain needs some rest after two straight weeks of exam. And I still got one week of exams left, but still there's going to two days of no school next week and there's the holidays the next! Mwahahhaa.

But I certainly have went on a holiday mode yesterday for watching two movies, that is the Madonna's-ex-husband-directed movie, Sherlock Holmes and the 2001 movie, Serendipity of which both centers around signs, clues and coincidences. Hanisah recommended Sherlock Holmes, which was great, and what do you know? RDJ practices Wing Chun Kung Fu in real life! You know, the martial art in the movie, Ip Man! Wow, never knew about that and Ip Man was awesome, thanks to Amirah for recommending it too. Actually I've had these movies for ever encrypted in the hard drive, but never had the chance or the interest to watch it before, ehak.

I love Eugene Levy!

And Serendipity, this one, of Baba's recommendation. And surprisingly, it's a romantic comedy. I don't like much romance, I prefer dramedy (drama comedy) movies like Forrest Gump, Marley & Me and The Bucket List but this one is good, though it's got some flaws here and there. Nevertheless, alll the coincidences and the signs which brought them together in the end, it's really sweet.

I watched Percy Jackson & The Lighting Thief the day before yesterday which was good as well, pretty surprised that I enjoyed it since they weren't many good reviews and Hanisah said the books were better. But, it was an enjoyable movie anyway, and that's what's important, eh? Coincidentally, the directors for Sherlock Holmes and Percy Jackson were born on the same day! wah. And I'm going to boro boro (excuse that.) Mariyam's The Lightning Thief novel and she's going to boro boro my Hunger Games series :D

Oh well, back to studying. InsyaAllah. I hope. (woaah "deja vu"! ehak. Oh, Deja Vu which starred Denzel Washington is a great movie too! :D)

Yet another one.
Pretty please? :D

Salam, allo :) Well I just got back from tutoring my neighbour, Zarifah! eheh. Just guess which subject I taught her? MATHS! Yes, Maths. One of my weakest subjects in PMR. But it's Form 2 syllabus, and I've practiced it for over 3 years now (I don't sound too old, right?) so I guess, it's fine. At first, when she asked me to teach her, I was completely abashed, because trust me, Maths isn't usually my thing.

At first, I want to decline the offer, but I guess, I'll try my best (even though it's not much, eheh.) Perhaps maybe because the intention of teaching another has been blessed by Allah, I guess, so alhamdulillah, the P&P process went great :D In addition to that, when you teach others, it will strengthen your knowledge on it too, as well. I also gave her tips on Agama & KH as well, besides chatting about school, funny things and all. She's in MRSM, and she's home for the holidays (of one week), so I guess, we got a chance to reconnect a bit :)

And now, off to my cousins' son's birthday party! (oh food, glorious food...)

Apabila seseorang meninggal dunia, terputuslah amalannya melainkan tiga sumber, iaitu sedekah jariah, ilmu pengetahuan yang bermanfaat dan anak soleh yang berdoa untuknya.

WeLoveHijab.com

Salam allo :D

Chatted with Amirah a few days ago, among the topics are of the shopping thingy (insyaAllah jadi :D), SECRET thingys (serius jahat masa ni xD), me disturbed by my sister weeping the middle of the night, she by her cat, orang mengigau and me playing a prank of the year on her MWAHAHAHA, Yoo Seung Ho, and she asked me where I bought cardigans. So I remembered a website I used to go that is welovehijab.com and been following it since late last year or early this year (not that you care eh?) And the admin's been on hiatus for months and now she's back again :D For muslimahs, this website is for you as it features style for the modern urban women (ceh I don't think I'm qualified for that term yet xD), but still covers the aurah. But non-muslims can get some style ideas too from here :)

This website features Q&A on hijab, others' experiences of wearing hijab, style ideas like abayas, hijabs, and particularly the website's admin's fave, cardigans or long jackets worn over (almost) sleeveless dresses (most of them knee-long) which is my hijab style right now. Comfortable and hijab-friendly :D Although my style is much more simpler than the ones in the website because I don't like accessories or complex patterns that much. Less is more for me :) And I DONT wear high heels -.-

Here are some of the interesting pieces for hijab style ideas I found on the website.

Long cardigans worn over long dresses :D

Cardigans not exactly your cup of tea on sweltering days? Try this! The dress looks uncomfortable
for hot days, but according to the website it's made of lightweight material so it's comfy :)

Alya made me like pink now x) But only dark and deep pink not bright ones. Nevertheless, this outfit looks cute :)
Though for me I'd wear it with a simple long t-shirt. And WITHOUT heels. Looks so unstable that one O_o

I love simple stripes! :D Though for me I'd wear a simple cardigan and NOT wear high heels -.-

Love the middle one. Suitable for work-outs! Though I don't work out xD Except when hari sukan is approaching mwahaha.

And look at these abayas from shukr.co.uk! Nice eh? :D Sure if you got 50 pounds lying around for each. But I
think it's quite reasonable, because abayas are quite expensive as they're made from high-quality material.

And it even caters to women who are up-to-date with the latest trend like ruffles, stripes and such. The admin researched for what's hot on the runway or what the celebs are wearing, and scavenge for pieces that suits to Muslim women to cover the aurah. For example:

There are some other celebs featured too like Julianne Moore and Rachel Bilson :)

Waist-chincing isn't very hijab friendly as it reveals the body shape (i like the green one though :D) but you can still style it like this:

The belt can be worn under a cardigan or a jacket so that the body
shape can be concealed but you can still style belts! Genius eh? :D

Though the pieces featured in the website are pretty expensive.. And even expensive-r converted to MYR -___- But never mind you can get some ideas here and just mix and match of what you have or buy almost identical things (or the same concept) and far more cheaper than the ones featured in the website. And for me, my outfits are much more simpler (dresses and cardigans), and I don't care about trends as long as it is comfy and hijab-friendly insyaAllah, and I dont wear heels -_- or accessories and I usually wear sling bags, but it's up to you to style it and it doesn't matter if it was from the 50s because it's one of the ways for you to express yourself.
